A short-ish set of final blog pics from Amritsar

We're on to another destination, so I got a few pics ready for a final post from Amritsar.
First, some pics from around town again: then a few from the the nearby Wagah Border, where the India-Pakistan border is officially closed before sundown (quite the spectacle!); then, finally,  some more pics from the Golden Temple.
I do have a whole bunch more pics, but enough for now!

Please click on the pics to embiggen!

A lot of red bangles - there were a number of speciality red bangle shops in the markets

At the Wagah Border, as the crowds gathered (eventually filling all the seats on both sides of the border) for sundown, getting ready for quite the military personnel  show of strengths.

Back to Amritsar....

A few folks heading for the Golden Temple

Some students with mandatory head coverings to enter the temple.  You can buy them or there are
bins to take them from for free.

Every day, thousands upon thousands of people are fed for free in the Temple area, produced by volunteer labour and regular cooks, as they view it as their duty to feed anyone who needs it.

  1. The Seeks believe that ‘to serve the community is to serve god’.
Also all Seeks are Singh’s but not all Singh’s are Seeks - think about it!!
